making things

It's been nuts the last two weeks. Like a whole new kind of busy that I maybe have never experienced before. Thankfully most of it has been activities and projects that I like doing, but I'm noticing myself having trouble finding words. So, how about some pictures instead?! Yesterday the ladies from Studio Choo came over and we worked on a piece for Design Sponge. It was great fun, and the photographer was a total joy to work with. His will be better, but here are a few sneak peak shots at what we were doing.

the new to do list

Most big projects have been checked off the list, but there's plenty still to do this weekend. Thankfully it's a long one, so we're taking Sunday off to visit grandma in Santa Cruz.

1) hem bedroom curtains
2) attack cobwebs
3) super dusting
4) clutter control
5) vacuum and mop wood floors
6) use the power of baking soda on the bathroom floor
7) finish potting last 2 succulents
8) hem linen tablecloth
9) hang 2nd thread organizer

On a completely separate note. We had dinner with some friends earlier this week who we hadn't seen in a few months. Much of the "catching up" was chatting about our long process of me trying to get pregnant. We're on month 8 and it's been treacherous. People seem to take a particular interest because we're using a donor through a sperm bank and for the most part this is unknown territory. My friend was encouraging me to write about the process, but I don't want to force that on people. Any input? Do you want to know what went in to our decision of which donor(s) to use. Do you care what an IUI is and how a person finds out she has low progesterone?

da fare

I've always enjoyed making lists. And if there happens to be a clipboard involved, I am so there, eagerly checking things off. I tend to have a list going for groceries and stuff to accomplish for any given week, and then there's the long-term goals kind of list. For the past year or so, I've even been helping Cristina with her listing, keeping her music marketing and such on track. Between work, ciuccio, The Heated merchandise managing, planning for a future family, and general "life" stuff, I've been feeling a sense of urgency to get some big lists going. It's the first time that I can remember feeling like there's so much going on that something might get forgotten if I don't write it down. Am I getting old?
Anyway, I'm not really complaining. I'm looking forward to it actually. And I bought myself a fantastic calendar which arrived in the mail today.
I know I'm not the only one who likes lists. In fact, there's an entire blog dedicated to them. Take a look here.
How about you? Are you a list maker? How do you keep track of all that you want to accomplish in a day/month/your life?

field trip

Wow, this is post #200.

Today was supposed to be a special outing to the new California Academy of Sciences, but they were completely sold-out. We took Alli to the Randall Museum instead, which is a free children's museum with many rescue animals. They have an earthquake simulation and a rotating special exhibit currently about urban animals. We've been before, but today was especially nice as it wasn't crowded, and most of the animals were out and about.

Did I mention that the museum is in Corona Heights (above the Castro)? What a view.
