We spent about 4 days in the blistering heat with our friends Natalie and Ben. Mostly we ate and chatted and then went back to eating some more. Occasionally we had a Texas sized cup of water.

Some new things are happening over at The Heated. Here's a little sneak.

I promise to post new and interesting things soon, but for now well frankly, I'm exhausted. Even my acupuncturist told me my kidneys say I've been burning the midnight oil and drinking too much coffee and booze. Seriously. A big gigantic thank you to the many many people who came out and bought from us at Renegade Craft Fair. It was a huge success for us and we're entirely grateful.

this weekend

Renegade Craft Fair is this weekend. It's by far the biggest fair we've done, and this year we have some new products for sale. this humble abode will be selling neckties, pocket squares, toddler aprons, reusable ribbons and loveys (security blankets). The Heated will have white and natural flour sack dishtowels and...wait for it...drum roll...organic canvas tote bags! They are made here in San Francisco and are gorgeous quality. We chose big enough ones to take to the grocery store and actually be useful 'cause we're like that. Bags are printed on both sides and will be $20.

it's market day

If you're ready to do some Christmas shopping, and you're in the Mission area, come to The Blue Macaw for Market SF. I even have some new products today (under $10!). We'll be there 12-6, Mission between 21st and 22nd.

I can't believe I dared to complain about the sun setting too early. We have had the most gorgeous weather. It's mid November and 75 degrees. Better to just be thankful for what I got. Like for instance that I can take the kids to eat lunch with my wife at least once a week. It's special for all of us, doubly so when I bring cookies.

Hello. I think we might have some new readers, welcome. It was a big week here with The Chronicle article being the highlight for sure. Didn't read it? Try this.
The Heated had some nice press too. First, a treasury including "Get Awesome" made it to the front page of Etsy, then Dwell decided to make "Design Advice" their product of the day. And at long last, the Party Bird towel we shipped off in May made it's debut in Better Homes and Gardens, with a full page shot no less.

In addition, the line of organic textiles I have been working on for Modern Playhouse has finally been released and will be for sale this Saturday at Sprout. Pretty much everything exciting that happened all year happened in the same week. So strange. So exciting!

Can I tell you that I managed to make 3 quarts of stock and a pot of beans plus pancakes on Sunday? It's been a goal of ours this year to plan more of our meals in advance. We tend to eat better and spend less on food if at least 4 meals are shopped for on Sunday. One thing I didn't make but keep thinking about are Buckeyes. Do you know them? Smitten Kitchen wrote about them recently and I cannot stop thinking about them. I'm not even a peanut butter freak! I'm pretty sure the kids will go batty for them so I think we'll give them a go on Friday. In case you feel like ditching your diet, the recipe is here.

2 color

The Heated took a big step this week and did a 2 color print. All sorts of awesome jokes are being kicked around.

renegade re-cap, sort of

I'm too pooped to write much about renegade, but this weekend went well. We sold lots, saw old friends, made new ones and even did a tiny bit of shopping. All the work we put into building the booth paid off, we got loads of compliments and both felt that our goods were finally being displayed properly. Next time we need a good cart for the loading/unloading, but the rest was smooth sailing.

The advantage to living with someone who can build is that we're going to have an awesome booth at Renegade. The disadvantage is living in the middle of a construction site. We really need a garage!

We've been talking about this for awhile, but for some reason it took forever to actually make happen. Combining two good things to make something even better!

my house is a mess

You would not believe the piles of dishtowels that are all printed, folded and tagged in our dining room. For the last few nights we've eaten dinner from the couch because the table was too crowded. The twine we have running down the hallway have been packed, but at last are empty again. With the exception of minor signage adjustments, we're ready for Austin.

It's the third weekend in a row with glorious weather. We had rain all week, but today, wow sunshine. I went to the market first thing and bought 4 lbs. of asparagus to attempt pickling tomorrow. We received a jar as a gift over the holidays that was spectacular, crunchy and spicy and perfect. I want to try to re-create if possible. If they work, you'll get the recipe.
Did you see the new towel? I like having my words immortalized, but also Cristina did a nice job with the actual design. So far it's been printed in green and electric blue, but more colors are on the way.

Somehow my exercise walk turned into a cappuccino at a nearby coffee shop. I got off work a little early on Monday and the sun was shining and it was over 6o degrees. I think you can see how this might happen.

Also, it's time for another press photo attempt for The Heated. Out of 107 shots, we got 8 that seem usable. This is my favorite of the bunch because it is the least posed, but it's not very "press photo" like either.

With help from a few friends, The Heated has made another music video. It looks and sounds really amazing.
