This little thing is turning 6 this week which also means we're really close to celebrating our 6th anniversary. I'm having a hard time believing it has been that long already. But then again, I remember just how tiny she was the first day I held her.

I know 5 people who share today as their birthday. But only 1 of them came over for dinner and a cake. Not just any cake though, this is by far the best chocolate cake I have ever eaten. It's become the cake that everyone asks for and I like that tradition.

happy birthday to you

Yesterday was the birthday of my most regular reader, and biggest supporter, my sister. We had a day of delicious food. First brunch at La Note, then we baked this incredible cake, went for dinner at Pizzaiolo and finally ate the cake. Everything was fantastic, but I keep thinking about the pizza with delicata and gorgonzola. Baking the cheese mellows it into this gooey bite with the creamy sweet squash, and maybe a bite here and there with chervil, that sort of brightens the whole thing. I also highly suggest making the cake. Shannon had it once at a party, and it has become the always requested birthday cake, which is saying a lot in a family of cooks.
