footsies

I'm not one of those people with a fear of feet. If you are, you might not find these as interesting as I do. Chasing after the girls feet today was fun, and inspired by the pile of socks and shoes that Em left on the bench.

scheduling

It's been a rather hectic week. Sick kids make the days longs and full of tears and every night has been some activity or another. It's Thursday and I'm feeling burnt out. I guess I must have been complaining about it just a wee bit because I came home to a bouquet of flowers. They're gorgeous and I really should photograph them to show you but that would require getting up off the couch and frankly I'm not in the mood. Maybe later, when I finally decide a glass of wine is worth the effort. I hope you all are getting enough sleep.

wedding bells

When one of your most artistic friends gets married, you know her wedding will be unique. This little lady became a Mrs. yesterday at one of the most beautiful and perfect weddings I've ever been to. First off, the whole thing took place in a Botanical Greenhouse. A frog croaked through most of the reception and her dress (oh the dress!) was designed by the bride and sewn by a friend. All the men's ties looked pretty hot too, if I do say so myself.

kid friendly craft

One of my favorite activities to do with the kids is craft projects, but it can be really hard to find ones that are engaging for 3 at a time (who are different skill levels) and that don't require a lot of prep and clean-up work. Today I managed to create one that went well. I had cut out the butterfly shapes ahead of time but the rest I could do as they colored. The butterfly wands are two sided, simply glued together with a dowel stuck in between. The turtles/ladybugs are flat craft sticks that I slipped through a slit and then taped the back to give it dimension.

in the dark

I took this standing in a pitch black hallway late at night. ISO 3200.

will travel

We're using Renegade's first trip to Austin as an excuse to go see the city. Traveling with all of our gear is going to be a new experience, so we have to start planning it like yesterday. I'm hoping to have a large stack of aprons to sell. And The Heated has a few new designs in the works, which can be previewed here.

practice, practice, practice

I'm taking a 6 week photography class so the photos I'm taking have been really hit or miss. I'll bet you can guess what our assignments were by these comparison photos.

feeling quiet

Despite the foreboding forecast, the skies cleared and the sun shone like mad for the rest of our trip. After such storms, it felt like a true blessing to be sitting on the beach in the warmth. I sat and watched the waves all morning.

I'm posting more shots on Flickr if you'd like to see.

vision quest

I'm spending a few days out in nature. It turns out though that the whole place has wifi and I have no self control so I'm online even though I told myself not to be. We made it about half way through our guided wild flower walk before the rain started, and it hasn't let up since. Can't say this was exactly what I had in mind, but it's peaceful here regardless. Thank god the beds in our tent cabins are heated.
