I've got plans, big plans for 'this humble abode." I'm officially making Saturday the etsy finds day, so you now know you can count on it being here weekly. And now, for the even more exciting news. Sunday will be our "getting to know you" day. I'm interviewing loads of creative and inspiring people and will be introducing them to you each week. Please join us tomorrow for the first one.

see you again, yesterday

etsy finds
It's apparent that I've spent hundreds (thousands?) of hours on Etsy. One category that I've failed to investigate much is Bath and Beauty. Wow, I was missing out. There are flavors that sound incredibly delicious and many shops that cater to those who want all-natural ingredients. I suggest looking through some of these shops as I picked scents that appeal to me, but of course, you may like something perhaps a little more floral. Or fruity?

treasure
Snagging a treasury on Etsy is such an adrenaline rush! You can curate your own list which is then posted for all to see, as well as vies for a front page showing. When the number of listing goes below 333, a slot opens for about 10 seconds. I set a timer to go off two minutes before the slot opened and was shocked to see well over 1000 people waiting. I've read you can cut and paste your title to cut down on time. Anyways, I got one! Themed for those of us who need to buy gifts this month but are feeling strapped for cash. Here is a link and a screen shot.

i am not a professional
The Heated has an awesome project coming up as part of an Etsy Storque feature. Unfortunately, I'm not a professional photographer, and Cristina is not the most photogenic of people (not at all!). We spent several hours working on it yesterday, and despite shooting well over 300 images, we're not positive we got anything usable. The image has to show the artist and the dish towels but cannot be cheesey. Tougher than you think. We may have gotten a few that Cristina can use as press shots, which is always good.

field trip
Wow, this is post #200.
Today was supposed to be a special outing to the new California Academy of Sciences, but they were completely sold-out. We took Alli to the Randall Museum instead, which is a free children's museum with many rescue animals. They have an earthquake simulation and a rotating special exhibit currently about urban animals. We've been before, but today was especially nice as it wasn't crowded, and most of the animals were out and about.

Did I mention that the museum is in Corona Heights (above the Castro)? What a view.

Hello Friends,
Happy New Year.
Hope it's off to a swell start for you.

We took advantage of a day off by playing tourist and going to the Palace of Fine Arts, and to check out the Wave Organ. It took a mere 7 years of living here. Maybe someday I'll even go to Alcatraz.
